What does the RoHS compliance initiative include? The RoHS initiative is a mandate coming from the European community that eliminates certain hazardous substances from being used in PCB's and electronic devices. The European deadline is July 1, 2006 for commercial products. Medical devices will not be excluded from the RoHS initiative, they may need to be compliant as early as 2008.
The following substances are restricted under the RoHS initiative. ● Polybrominated Diphenyl Ethers (PBDE) ● Polybrominated Biphenyls (PBB) ● Lead ● Mercury ● Hexavalent Chromium
